EXPO Display Leads to Better Understanding of Monolithic Domes

Maddy and Chris Ecker, the owners of Serenity Dome, Galax, Virginia recently set up a Monolithic Dome information display at the 3rd annual Save Green Expo at the Crossroads Institute in Galax. The event was sponsored by Grayson LandCare of Grayson County, Virginia. (See http://graysonlandcare.org for further organization info.)

This was the second EXPO at which Maddy and Chris Ecker shared the benefits that make Monolithic Dome living so energy efficient, healthy and disaster safe.

This year’s EXPO theme was “Personal and Planetary Wellness,” and the event hosted some 35 exhibits and vendors. Announcements for the EXPO were published via regional newspapers, radio stations and Natural Awakenings magazine, Southwest Virginia Edition.

An estimated 250 visitors from multiple states attended lectures, browsed displays and discussed the benefits of Monolithic Dome living with Maddy and Chris. Besides the general public, many attendees had commercial and educational interests and backgrounds. Roanoke-based television station WDBJ also covered the event.

Emphasis was placed on Monolithic Dome benefits that tied into this year’s EXPO theme, specifically thermal and fresh-air battery capability, 1000-year durability, reliance on widely available building materials and decreased construction demands for natural resources.

The couple also discussed FEMA’s disaster resistant rating for Monolithic Domes and the decreased daily living costs associated with Monolithic Dome ownership. Curious visitors were given Monolithic pamphlets and CDs. Monolithic’s website was promoted and everyone enjoyed info-posters and a slide show of stunning domes across North America.

A fortunate few who expressed deeper interest in Monolithic Domes were invited to a private dome tour to coincide with Monolithic’s Annual October Domes Tour. They were treated to Serenity Dome’s newest facelift and plenty of detailed information regarding our energy savings, construction and enjoyment of life in a Monolithic Dome.

Note: Monolithic greatly appreciates Maddy and Chris’ very active, time-consuming support. Thank you!
