The Monolithic Dome Institute (MDI) advances the construction of the monolithic dome — a super insulated, steel reinforced, thin-shell concrete structure. To fulfill this mission, this website (monolithic.org) often reports on a wide range of projects inside and outside the monolithic dome industry.

For example, not every dome or thin-shell structure reported on this website follows the monolithic dome construction process patented by David, Barry, and Randy South. They are included for various reasons. The structure may be historically important. It may be a progressive example of thin-shell construction technology. Or it might be included as an inspiration in what curved architecture could be.

Whatever the reason, including a report on any structure on this website does NOT imply that MDI or it’s parent company, Monolithic Constructors Inc, are directly or indirectly involved in a project. This applies to all structures regardless of their construction technique.
