Tune in to “This New House” on August 5

A Monolithic Dome home in Wisconsin will be featured on an upcoming episode of This New House a 13-part series that premiers on the DIY Network this summer. The episode, scheduled to air on Thursday, August 5 at 8 p.m,, will focus on the unique approach used to build the energy-efficient and disaster resistant dome home that overlooks Lake Michigan in Manitowoc.

Premiering July 29, This New House is co-hosted by Amy Matthews and Kevin O’Connor, who is also the host of the long-running television show This Old House. The series will explore new approaches to, and new technologies and products for, residential construction and living.

While the series airs in the middle of summer, David South, president of Monolithic, had to make the long trek to Wisconsin from Texas on a cold February day for the show’s taping. Joining him were the current owners, the Loewens, who live in Kansas and spend their summers at the dome home.

The entire team at Monolithic also worked closely with series producer Bruce Irving who oversaw production of This Old House and its sister shows from 1988 to 2006. Don’t forget to set your DVRs and tune in on August 5 for this very special episode of This New House.
