The South Sawmill Lodge: A Monolithic Family Project South Sawmill Lodge is in snowmobile country. In the winter it’s accessed only by snowmobile, snowshoes, cross-country skis or snow cat. In the summer, it can be reached by car, over improved logging roads through Targhee National Forest. This spacious Monolithic Dome has a 90-foot diameter and two stories. The fireplace is a cozy focal point in this large family/meeting room. In addition to three sinks, this bathroom (one of seven) has lovely wood cabinets. This 10K-square-foot facility is the perfect venue for reunions, weddings, parties, etc. It is spectacular. The second floor has 20 individual beds plus three game rooms. This fireplace captures your attention, but the dome’s main heating source is a hot water system circulating under the floor. It keeps the dome comfortably livable all year. Please note the exterior: What looks like rough sawn wood is acutally concrete. In the winter, transportation is arranged by a large snowcat pulling a schoolbus on skies. The facility can easily handle 200 or 300 people. The main level includes ten bedrooms. Beautiful wood cabinets provide plenty of storage. This dome includes several play areas. Twenty beds circle the loft. It’s spacious and beautiful! The laundry area includes multiple washers and dryers. Lodge reservations can be made by calling Randy South at 208-754-4422. A recent photo of the Randy South Family has Karen and Randy in the center, surrounded by their sons and daughters-in-law, daughters and sons-in-law, and grandchildren. Can you see the need for the South Sawmill Lodge for reunions?
